The Scramble for Sight

and Junior Golf Clinic for visually impaired youth

The 6th Annual Scramble for Sight and Junior Golf Clinic will be held Monday, September 22, 2008 at the Reserve Golf and Country Club, North Course, in Aloha. The Reserve is one of Oregon’s premier courses, playing host to the Jeld-Wen Tradition, the Champions Tour final Major of the year.

Designed by Bob Cupp, whose award-winning golf architecture accomplishments include Oregon courses Crosswater and Pumpkin Ridge, the North Course provides dramatic contrast to its counterpart at The Reserve. While The South Course's trees and terrain are pure Willamette Valley in character, the North Course feels more like playing among Oregon's coastal dunes. The more expansive links-style layout features undulating native grass mounds, distinctive shape, judicious bunkering and formidable greens with short grass surrounds.

The par 72 course, measuring from 5,199 to 6,852 yards, defies players to hit and hold its greens. Without a doubt, the course's signature hole is the unique 460 yard, par 4 17th, where the green is part of a spectacular 43,000 square foot triple green complex shared by the 1st, 8th, and 17th holes.

The North Course is reserved exclusively for private members and their guests from the 1st through the 15th of each month.

 The Junior Golf Clinic:

A special part of this annual event is the junior golf clinic. This clinic, one of the largest in the country, brings more than 50 students from the Oregon and Washington Schools for the blind as well as mainstream schools together with local professionals. Students spend the morning working with local PGA professionals and teachers on chipping, driving and putting skills introducing students to the joys—and the challenges—of the game of golf.

Making a difference in the health of Oregonians:

Proceeds from the Scramble for Sight support the efforts of the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation to improve the quality of life for all Oregonians in need of sight and hearing assistance. From preventative health screenings to sight or hearing saving surgeries OLSHF serves more than 67,000 youth and adults annually in all corners of Oregon.
